Life Cycle Assessment for Geopolymer Concrete Bricks Using Brown Coal Fly Ash
نویسندگان
چکیده
Traditionally, the construction industry has predominantly used Portland cement (PC) to manufacture bricks, as it is one of most-commonly available building materials. However, employment waste industrial material for brick production can lead a significant improvement in terms sustainability within sector. Geopolymer bricks made from brown coal fly ash, promising by-product, serve potential alternative. Conducting life cycle assessment (LCA), this study thoroughly evaluated entire manufacturing process’s environmental impact, source acquisition and transportation manufacturing, distribution, usage, end-of-life, compared PC bricks. The LCA revealed that their primary impacts stemmed raw while exhibiting substantial reductions ozone depletion, water metal depletion. These findings highlighted advantages revolutionize sustainable practices.

Production geopolymer materials by coal fly ash
Coal ash is the main waste from power plant. It is estimated that the consumption of the coal for power plant will increase to 240 million tons each year and the coal ash wastes will produce more than 2 million tons per year. Although the utilization of coal fly ash can be reached 74.1%, large amount of coal fly ash and bottom ash still cannot be utilized. The purpose of this research is to dev...
متن کاملALKALI Activated FLY-ASH Based Geopolymer Concrete
Considering the increasing demand for developing alternative construction materials, due to the growing environmental concerns, this paper discusses the feasibility of alkali activated geo-polymer concrete, as a future construction material. The main objective of this study involves observation of structural behaviours of the fresh fly ash-based geo-polymer concrete, understanding the basic mix...
متن کاملFly Ash-based Geopolymer Lightweight Concrete Using Foaming Agent
In this paper, we report the results of our investigation on the possibility of producing foam concrete by using a geopolymer system. Class C fly ash was mixed with an alkaline activator solution (a mixture of sodium silicate and NaOH), and foam was added to the geopolymeric mixture to produce lightweight concrete. The NaOH solution was prepared by dilute NaOH pellets with distilled water. The ...
متن کاملFly Ash-Based Geopolymer Mortar Incorporating Bottom Ash
This paper presents the results of study on effect of various parameters on mechanical properties of fly ash-based geopolymer mortar with bottom ash as partial or full replacement for sand. Compressive strength of samples with 10% bottom ash (BA) was comparable to those with only sand. Further increase in bottom ash content decreased the compressive strength. However, the reverse tendency occur...
متن کاملHigh Performance Bricks from Fly Ash
Bricks whose solid ingredient is 100% fly ash have been manufactured. The manufacturing process uses techniques and equipment similar to those used in clay brick factories. The bricks produced were about 28% lighter than clay bricks. The bricks manufactured from fly ash possessed compressive strength higher than 40 MPa. This exceeds some of the best of load carrying clay bricks available by mor...
